Use a Tent Rental to Protect Your Pumpkin Patch

Fall is the time of year we see orange pumpkins just about everywhere we go. Then there are the pumpkin patches on nearly every corner. Games, pumpkin carving contests, scarecrows, etc. – there are so many things that go into maintaining these pumpkins that kids – and adults – love so much.

Thankfully, it just doesn’t have to be that hard. All you need to do is decide to use a tent rental to protect your pumpkin patch and you can relax about everything else. Enjoy the kids and the festivities, knowing that your pumpkin patch will be A-Okay!

Protection from animals

Pumpkins bring all sorts of creatures out of their homes. No, they aren’t just human. There are all sorts of animals that will pounce on a ripe (or rotten) pumpkin, such as

  • Rabbits
  • Squirrels
  • Deer
  • Mice
  • Woodchucks
  • Raccoons

So, in other words, leaving them exposed at the site of your pumpkin patch puts them at risk of being eaten by any of the above. Therefore, a tent rental can come in handy – as it can provide an enclosed-type protection that you can’t always find everywhere else.

Keep the birds away

Birds are also drawn to pumpkins. While it may be beautiful and intriguing to watch blue jays and other species of birds, it is not an ideal situation when you are trying to maintain a pumpkin patch. Just as you would use a tent rental to protect from ground animals, you will also use one to protect from birds. The overhead cover blocks the view and the sidewalls will, too. Keeping all your garbage cans covered is another way to prevent birds from taking up residence at your pumpkin patch.

Consider where you put the carving station

A pumpkin-carving station is quite common at pumpkin patches – and the contests that come with them are fun, too! However, one of the worst mistakes you can make is to have the carving station held outdoors. Logically, you would think outdoors is the perfect place for such an activity, thanks to the big mess it can make! However, that mess brings a bigger mess – animals, and birds.

When you set up your carving station, make sure you do so within the confines of the tent. This will ensure the mess will not be made indoors, but it will also protect the fruit – and those carving it – from any encounters with little furry friends!

Keep the pumpkin patch neat

It is extremely important to keep the area in and around the pumpkin patch clean and neat. Not only does this mean clean and neat from carved pumpkins, rotting pumpkins, or smashed pumpkins, but also every day, ordinary trash. Think about it – even though you are in a tent, you are still outside and the smell of garbage is going to draw a crowd – and not the kind of crowd you want at your pumpkin patch!

To stay tidy:

  • Keep a secure lid on all garbage cans.
  • Pick up any trash left behind by visitors and quickly dispose of it.
  • Put newspaper or other material down on the carving station table. Once the carving session is complete, throw away the material in a secured garbage can and wash down the table.
  • Do not leave carved pumpkins sitting exposed.
  • Rent a tent with sidewalls to provide protection for the pumpkin patch and keep it orderly.

The cleaner you keep your pumpkin patch and the area surrounding it, the better protected your product will be!

Have fun!

While you spend all this time making sure your pumpkins are protected, you still need to have some fun with them! Did you know that there is more to do with a pumpkin than just carve it or eat it? Check it out! Within the confines of your tent, you can:

  • Design a maze using your pumpkins. Stack your pumpkins on top of hay bales throughout a section of your tent. The size of the space available will determine how long and intricate your maze can be.
  • Paint your pumpkins. As an alternative to carving, you can provide a place for kids and adults to paint their pumpkins.

Your tent will keep these pumpkins safe and will provide a great deal of fun for all those who visit your pumpkin patch.

Pumpkins are a staple for this time of year, so it is very important to protect them – or else you will have some disappointed kiddos. Grab yourself a tent rental and your pumpkin patch is sure to please, no matter what gets thrown your way!
