DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
- Our customer required a large concrete foundation area to be covered for a winter pour.

- The heated tent structure proved so helpful that the client kept the tent up for an additional month to expedite plumbing and electrical work
- An onsite temporary structure was utilized to pour a 4 foot thick foundation in January in Wisconsin.
- With the earthwork, footers and the wall complete, scaffolding was utilized to “level” the tent for assembly.
- Uses include: heated onsite clearspan structure to cover the area needed to pour concrete in the winter.

ADAPTING WITH AMERICAN PAVILION
To address the project engagement above, American Pavilion visited the location and erected the 40m x 40m x 4m Losberger tent so that the client could progress in their project and they can pour concrete in winter under the temporary warehouse structure.
The best temperature to pour concrete is 50-60 degrees while the minimum temperature to pour concrete is 32 degrees. What happens when the temperature drops under that and your team has a project to complete? This is exactly what happened here. Construction is always a moving target and a permit delay in May might cause a work stoppage in January. This custom 4’ thick foundation pour with electric and plumbing had this issue. The options were simple: to delay all work for 3-4 months or cover the foundation and power forward!
A custom 4 foot thick foundation fell behind schedule and had to be poured during the freezing Wisconsin winter to meet their construction deadline. With the earthwork, footers and the wall complete, scaffolding was utilized to “level” the tent for assembly. At one end, the last section of wall was cut out for the telehandler to mobilize into the future foundation area. Working cohesively with several other trades onsite helped expedite the installation. Fighting freezing temperatures and wind, the American Pavilion installation team never wavered and finished before an impending snow storm!
American Pavilion recommends a minimum 5 feet of space around the pour to help acclimate the surrounding earth closer to the desired curing temperature of the concrete. Oftentimes, this space is utilized by all trades for storage of materials while working and finishing the concrete. During the pouring process, the tent sidewalls were opened slightly to allow smoothing and finishing work. At a minimum these structures should have a single light per arch and at least 1 personnel door for continued access.
Interior lights offered extended work times while the heated structure was available to all working the jobsite. It served as a pseudo break room tent for the crews while on break and wanting to get out of the inclement weather.

With inclement weather approaching, a quick turnaround time of this project was essential to ensure that the concrete pour would be secured.
HVAC
Our heated HVAC systems create temperature controlled areas to ensure the concrete pouring project can continue during cold months.

LED Lighting installation to ensure concrete pouring can be performed throughout all hours of the day to get the project back on track.
CRANE REMOVAL
This temporary structure required leveling and the use of cranes during installation. The crane had to then be removed from the structure.
NON-STANDARD STAKED INSTALL
For this project, excavation was already completed (4’ deep) and our structure needed to be staked surrounding the excavation site.
CONCRETE POURING
This installation site was for a construction company to continue their concrete pouring project throughout the sub-freezing temperatures.
