What's New

American Pavilion recently proved it was “just what the doctor ordered” for a Minnesota hospital's fundraiser. Event planners came to American Pavilion with a request for a clear span rental tent larger than a football field to be erected on the hospital's grounds. What seemed like a fairly simple request had a number of logistical challenges:

The year before, another tent company built a costly raised floor over the entire lawn—even over the landscape planters—that hospital event planners hoped to avoid. Was American Pavilion up to the challenge?

The answer is yes. But to make the best recommendation required a thorough visit to the hospital, a review of the site and plans for the event. During the site visit it was determined that there was enough room for the 164 foot wide by 214 foot long clearspan tent they wanted and also that it was possible to incorporate the landscape planters into the overall plan so they could add to the ambiance of the setting.

American Pavilion's plan included the clear span tent, which creates an open, ballroom-like environment. A lay-down plywood floor integrated the planters instead of covering them. This feature saved the hospital more than $100,000.00 in flooring costs alone. Carpeting, lighting, and glass entry doors finished off the installation. A crew of 10 American Pavilion employees worked for seven days to install all of the rental equipment.

The hospital's fundraiser went off without a hitch and was deemed a huge success. So successful in fact that American Pavilion has already been retained for next year’s fundraising event.

Advance planning and attention to detail were the keys to success. Knowing the client, developing a plan around those expectations, and then executing on every detail is what American Pavilion does best.

Facts:

The Clearspan tent was 164' x 214', representing more than 35,000 than square feet under roof (large enough to cover a football field).

American Pavilion provided the big clear span tent, flooring, lighting and glass entry doors.

The project required seven semi-tractors full of equipment.

American Pavilion travels nationwide and has one of the largest inventories of clear span tents in the United States.

The event installation was overseen by an American Pavilion owner to make sure that all of the details went exactly as planned. A crew of 10 American Pavilion employees worked for seven days to install all of the special event equipment.

American Pavilion recently had the opportunity to install rental tents for a classic automobile auction held by Christies Auction House. The automobiles were previewed in a main PERMATENT® which measured 100' x 180'. These tents were carpeted and lighted to create a "finished" look. A number of smaller tents were installed to connect the main tents with each other and to an existing building. Although a number of challenges had to be overcome for this installation, the biggest challenge was the fact that these tents were installed in a courtyard of an office building. Access to the courtyard was limited by size and weight restrictions. Tent parts, some of which were over 34' long and weighed over 300 pounds each, had to be unloaded from our semi-truck and reloaded to a smaller truck for the 250' long drive through the middle of the office building. American Pavilion was also required to follow the client's strict guidelines for days and hours permissible for installation. A pleasant but challenging surprise presented itself during the installation of the main 100' x 180' PERMATENT®, when the client announced, unexpectedly, that they would require an additional tent, a 100' x 114' PERMATENT® for audience overflow. American Pavilion's crew responded by cleaning, loading and transporting the tent over 300 miles, all within a 24-hour period. American Pavilion owns one of the largest clear-span PERMATENT® inventories in the world, and specializes in the most challenging installations, anywhere, anytime.
